Lloyd &
Nilda
Dear family,
Well, the "next month" is
already here and we do not have much to add.
I guess we are getting old since not
too much eventuality occupied our lives.
You may all know of the crazy
weather we have had. Who would have believe it:
10 inches of new snow up the canyon
from our home. The rumours are that Snowbird will be open until the end of
June.
I guess that is all for May.
Next month.we will write about the June news so we will not be out of track.
To all the Fathers in the Family:
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!
LOVE AND HUGS
Lloyd & Nilda

DARLENE AND
BOYD
Dear Family,
Another month has come and gone and
it will soon be Father's Day so I hope all you Dads will have a good one.
Megan graduated from High
school on the 28th. The talks were good but it took quite awhile for over
400 students to receive their diplomas. She is excited to be out of
school and looking forward to college. We don't know yet where she
will be going.
We had another graduation in
our family--Josie graduated from preschool. We went to that and enjoyed
it. They sang some songs and each one received some kind of diploma
and then had some cookies and punch.
Now for Memorial Day. We
went to the cemetery on Sunday to put some flowers on the graves. It was
a good thing we went then because on Monday it rained all day. After that
we went to Ann's house and had dinner and visited. They, Ann and
Lyle, are building a garage onto their house. Craig is doing most of the work
and of course he is doing a good job. They will be glad when it is all
done.
Craig has also been helping
us. We needed to replace the shingles on the back of the house so he came
to put them down. We did the front of the house a few years ago. We had
to take off all the old ones first. Some of the ward members came to help
with that and they had that done in one afternoon on Thursday, May 29th.
Craig came on Friday night after work and helped Boyd buy what was needed and
stayed over night with his kids so he could have an early start on Sat.
morning. All the kids came to help on Sat. and some more of the ward
members. It was all finished that day. It went pretty fast.
Good job done!
On to what is happening with
myself. I finally went to the lung dr. on June 6. I am still short of
breath and coughing. He wanted me to have a CT scan of my lungs. I
did that on the 10th. The 11th he called me with the results. I
still have some fluid on my lungs, my limp nodes were enlarged and I have some
fusions but no lung disease. He seemed mostly concerned with the fluid
and gave me two choices of what can be done. Insert a needle in my chest
to extract the fluid or do nothing and wait and see with another chest x-ray if
it will go down by itself. I opted for the second choice so I go back to
see him again on July 31. One of these days I will be feeling really good
again but I don't know when.
Boyd is doing well. It's
a good thing one of us is ok. He just keeps on going just like the
energizer bunny.
That's it for this time.
Lots of love,
Darlene and Boyd

Wayne
& Loree -
I thought I had sent a letter to
Teresa before the 5th of June because I knew we would be leaving that day
and not be back home in time to send it and get it there by the 10th. But
when the family letter came in and mine wasn't there, I was pretty
frustrated. I checked my email and I can't find the letter
anywhere. Wayne even said he remembered me sending it because it had
trouble going out. Maybe that's why. It's lost somewhere in cyberspace I
guess.
Anyway, I called Teresa today and
she said I could add a note and she would let everyone know it was there.
Thank you, Teresa. There is some big news I wanted to let everyone in
on. When we went down to Serena's for Memorial Day weekend and also to
attend David's graduation that Saturday, Jeff and Rachel also came. On
Sunday she presented me with an additional Mother's Day gift. Something
I've wanted for a long time. She made the announcement that she
is expecting a baby!! What a surprise! She said they'd been trying
for a year and found out the day after Mother's Day but wanted to tell us all
in person. Everyone but Ken and his family was there to hear it.
What a joyous gift that was. I was in shock for several days. She
said she was 6 weeks along the day after Mother's Day, so I suppose she will
have the baby sometime around the first of next year. I'm so
excited!
The hard part was waiting until the
next weekend before I could tell anyone else because they hadn't let his folks
know and wouldn't be able to until then. I've never had such a hard time
keeping a secret! I was relieved when she let me know they'd
told them on Friday night because our neighborhood had a party on Saturday and
I was able to let them know at that time. What a relief!
Rachel didn't want to tell us on
David's graduation day and take away from his big day. The next day,
Sunday, was Heidi's birthday, but she couldn't wait to tell us any
longer. I'm so glad she didn't. The day was still a good one for
Heidi.
The rest of our news will wait
until the next letter. This is enough for this letter, don't you
think?
Until next month ....

Dear
Family,
Well,
I didn’t make it for the 10th, but maybe if I get this out today,
I’ll still make it into the letter.
Miracles
abound around here. I’ve been meditating
each morning and putting my life in God’s hands. Last month I had to charge $3000 to pay my
bills for the month. This month I only
had to charge $1500. That tells you
something about the miracles.
What
happened was that I was living on my equity line of credit and had about
$20,000 left of the credit which I expected to get me through school and
several months of living so that I could create more of an income to support
myself after school. I came home from
Hawaii and received a letter stating that my equity line had been decreased
because of the market and I only had $1500 left. It was quite a shock. I went in and talked to the bank and there
was nothing to be done because my house had fallen in value so much. I went into a week of poor me and fear and
helplessness. Then I came out and
started doing something about it. I
began meditating each morning and getting in touch with my feeling of God and
listening…that’s all, just listening. I
kept getting ideas of things to do and started doing them.
From
out of nowhere, last month I had about 8 new clients. A couple of them are moving to regular
visits.
I
cleared my garage and took stuff to the Rose Bowl Swap Meet and sold a bunch of
stuff and made $535 plus paid for the rental of the space and the truck.
I
got in a small accident with the big truck and was afraid that it would cost me
$500 deductible, but for some reason, the insurance company said it was covered
because my comprehensive didn’t have deductible. Nice.
I
called a woman who has a retreat center near here and she was excited to hear
from me. She has been asking for
teachers. So I get to teach at her
center and give her a percentage of the money.
I’m teaching my first class June 2 on The Questions®. This is to help people to go from upset to
inner peace, or what I call in-lightenment.
This will be at least a monthly class.
I
started sending letters to churches telling them I was willing for them to set
the price they charged for me to give the workshop and also let them set the
price they paid me and keep the rest for their church. I have one church that is interested and we
are talking about it now.
I
met a woman at a conference that I volunteered at who owns a spa in Westlake
Village not far from here. I told her
about my workshop The Questions® and she said she was looking for someone like
me. My friend Debra and I went out to
her spa last week and met with her massage/energy workers and set up a monthly
Wellness Wednesday, in which we will be giving mini workshops and then they can
choose three of the services to get a taste of the spa menu for a great
price. They will be held monthly and
then in October we will begin a quarterly full day of retreat.
I
parked at a yard sale next to a golf course and had a golf ball go through my
back window of the car. I called the country club to talk to the general
manager about it and asked him who I would talk to about helping the golfers
lower their golf score and he said me.
We have an appointment today to iron out the details.
Vernon
had sent a couple of my hypnosis CDs to a man he knew. This guy said he thought I had potential and
wanted to coach me for three months and would give me 2/3 off his regular price
to get me up to where I need to be. He
does the same things that I want to do.
It
all seems exciting with possibilities.
God
is wonderous, don’t you think?
I
love you all.
Elaine

Larry and
Betty
A belated Happy Mother's Day wish to all you wonderful mothers out there.
I hope all your children honored you and gave you a great big hug and told you
just how much they love and appreciate you.
Teresa wanted this letter by the 10th; it is the 9th and I thought I had better
get this written and sent so she won't have me to blame for holding up the
family letter.
On Saturday, May 17th, Betty and I went to Julie's spring concert with the
Schubert Singers. The theme was 'You Raise Me Up!' based on a song
by Josh Grobin. All the songs were very uplifting and we left the concert
in a very very good mood. Lloyd and Nilda were there, as were most of
Julie's family. We enjoyed visiting with them after the concert. It
was great to see Julie standing there singing her heart out with all the other
singers, especially after what she had just been through with her battle with
cancer. Julie, what a trooper you are. You certainly do 'lift us
up'!
School is out for the grandkids, and summer is here, except you can't tell it
by the cold temperatures we have been experiencing this year. The warmest
it has been so far is in the 70's. The lows have been in the 40's.
I have heard that Snowbird is staying open through Father's Day for snow
skiing. People have gone up there and skied in their shorts; it looks so
weird.
Anyway, on the 30th of May, Dean had his graduation ceremony from
kindergarten. It was sooo cute! There are three kindergartens at
Newman Elementary; and their teachers told them they could wear their very
favorite outfit and they could show them off at a fashion show on graduation
day; the teachers even created a runway complete with a string of lights
that went around the runway. The kids each took turns walking down the
runway just like models do, while another teacher read comments about the
clothes and the person modeling the clothes. It was absolutely
darling! The children also sang a couple of songs they had learned; one
song was in Spanish. Very impresssive!
We also went to Ana's 6th grade graduation. As the usual graduation music
played in the background, the students came in the room in a procession, just
like at a high school or college graduation. After taking their seats,
the principal introduced the speaker; a real live female judge. I don't
remember her name, but she was dressed in a black judge's robe just like she
would be in court. I do remember the principal saying she was appointed
to the bench by Governor Huntsman. Following her speech, special awards
were given to certain students, and then they lined up to receive their
certificates of graduation. All in all, it was a beautiful
ceremony. I am so proud of all our grandchildren. KayLub was
promoted from the 3rd grade to the 4th grade. Next year, Dean will be in
first grade, and Ana will be in 7th grade; she has been accepted into a pilot program
sponsored by the University of Utah; it has to do with the physical sciences,
etc. So she won't be going to regular Junior High; she is totally excited
about it, and it is being held at Brian and Kendra's old Northwest Middle
School close to Newman Elementary. The school district built a new Middle
School on Redwood Road and about 20th North.
Wednesday, I will go in for a colonoscopy. This will be my second
one. The first one, they found and removed two polyps. That was in
2004; they told me to have another one in 3 years; it has now been 4.(I have
been putting it off as long as I could.) Since I have had problems with
my esophagus, and had to go off coumadin for a while, my doctor thought it was
a good time to schedule a colonoscopy, since a person needs to be off any blood
thinners for at least 5 days; I have been off for two months now. Then I
can go back on it after Wednesday. I will let you know how it turns out
in the next family letter.
It does seem like the older we get, the more we talk about our health
problems. I guess it's because we have more health problems to talk
about! ha! ha! That's Life!!!
Betty is busy doing daycare; she keeps telling me she is doing what she loves,
so it really isn't a job to her. Sometimes, it can get a little
troublesome, but on the whole, it is very rewarding.
Can't think of much more to write about.
Everybody have a great summer. Love you all!
PS
I
want to let everyone in the family know that last Wednesday, June 11, I went in
for a colonoscopy; this was my second one. The first was 4 years
ago, and they found and removed two polyps; told me to come back in three
years; it has been 4, because I was afraid they would find more. However,
this time I passed with flying colors!!! I was told my colon was
completely clear of any polyps, and to come back in five years, which will be
the year 2013. That seems so far away for at least right now. Talk
about a natural high!!!! Even though I was groggy, I was totally relieved
and stoked.
So, if any of you out there are over the age of 40, please talk to your doctor
about getting screened for colon cancer. It is not that bad. Even
if they do find polyps, they can be cut out with no problems, before
they do become cancerous. Also, I was told that polyps grow at a very
slow rate, so it is easy to prevent colon cancer if you get screened as often
as is necessary.
O.K. I am now off my soap box.
All
my love

Wayne and
Julie
Dear
family,
This past month has been quite fun. The Hempel family (Wayne and I on down) went
camping for an extended weekend for our family reunion. We were going to go to Bear Lake, but the
weather wasn=t going to cooperate
so we changed our plans at the last minute and went to Moab. Usually Moab is VERY HOT in June, but it was
very pleasant this year. We had upper
70's to low 80's most of the time. The
last day was getting quite warm, but that was the day we all left to go home,
so it was a great trip weather wise.
Teresa and Mike and Steve and Val have ATV=s so we had fun
alternating on the ATV. The girls made
crafts for the kids and made up a treasure hunt for a Sunday afternoon
activity. It was so fun. It was sure great to be with all the
grandkids, seeing them have such a great time.
We didn=t hear AI=m bored@ once during the
whole trip.
I have officially thrown away (so to speak)
my wigs and am going natural these days.
It=s quite fun not
having to do anything with my hair in the mornings. Summer is a great time to have short hair,
and my hair is very, very short.
Swimming is fantastic and camping was a breeze. No worries about my hairdo.
Tomorrow is my 40th (yes I said 40th)
High School Reunion. Now doesn=t that make you all
sound old? They asked me to make the
name tags again this time and so Teresa scanned all the pictures in from the
yearbook, Karie made up the prototype for the tags, and I=m putting the
pictures on the tags. We should have had
a contest to see who could remember the most classmates by their pictures. Also, Teresa is putting together a video from
the reunion 5 years ago, so I=m excited to show
it. (My girls are so talented.)
Well, everyone have a great summer. I plan on it....
Love,
Wayne and Julie
